What is Wellness?

We define wellness as the degree to which an individual experiences health and vitality in any dimesion of life.

Now, all of these words are very, very important, but let’s start off with “health and vitality” first.

Health

Health is defined as, not how you feel, but how you are on the inside. In other words, health is when all of your parts, are functioning at 100% all of the time.

Health = Parts + Function + Time

When it comes to increasing your health, you need to increase a variable on the other side of the equation. There is not much you can do about the number of parts you have (notice if you remove parts through surgery, you lower your health potential), and "all the time" is a constant, so the best way to impact your health, would be to improve the function of the parts you have. This is the focus of our care.

The body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism—and the nervous system is the master controller of this process. You were born to be healthy. If you are not experiencing true wellness, something is interfering with the process.

Vitality

The word vitality implies more than just mere survival, it is the power to live and grow with a meaningful and purposeful existence. This is the difference between just wanting to avoid sickness (avoid something bad) vs. wanting to experience new levels of wellness (strive for greatness).

Degree

Wellness and illness exist on a continuum.The concept of health maintenance is a myth. Life is a dynamic process and either wellness is created through positive action, or illness is created through negative action.

Because the human body is never static, every decision you make moves you towards wellness, or away from it. Where you are on this continuum, will be the degree of your experience.

Dimensions of Life

The scientific evidence is over-whelming—there are 3 dimensions to your life—Physical, Biochemical and Psychological—and they are all profoundly connected.

Making a positive change in one dimension can automatically lead to positive changes in another. But when all 3 dimensions change at the same time, the results can be positively life-transforming!
